The St. John Fisher College women's tennis team swept the Utica College Pioneers en route to
a 9-0 win in Empire 8 action.
Fisher dominated the doubles play, dropping only two games in three matches.
Elena Vahl and
Marissa Rotondo paired at first doubles to grab an 8-2 win, while the second doubles team of
Jordan Brungard and
Katelyn Smith and the third doubles team of
Kimberly Phimsipasom and
Sarah Zarzeczny each shut out their opponents in 8-0 wins.
Haley Strowe earned the deciding point with a 6-0, 6-0 win at fifth singles to secure the match.
The Cardinals, now 4-3 overall and 3-2 in Empire 8 action, return to play as they host East Ave. and Empire 8 rival Nazareth College on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
