Fisher couldn't catch the Statesmen, as the hosting Cardinals
fell 3-0 to No. 2 Hobart College Tuesday night at Growney Stadium.
The Statesmen announced themselves early, waiting only 3:18 into play to get themselves on the board. A cross from Hobart's Tommy Hayes would set Tony Yeboah up perfectly for a line drive from 10 yards out for his first goal of the season.
With nine minutes left in the half, Andrew Steates grabbed a rebound off a header by Caetano Sanchez that found the back of the net, allowing Hobart to take a 2-0 lead into the locker room at halftime.
With a little more life in the second half, Fisher looked to come back, but not before the Statesmen improved their lead to three goals on a second goal by Yeboah, headed the ball between the pipes off a cross from Justin Dotzman on the right side. Opportunities arose, but the Cardinals could not capitalize.
Fisher was outshot 15-6 by Hobart. Goalkeeper
Robert Weigand tallied two saves in the first half, while newcomer
Kyle Metcalfe tallied four shots between the pipes in the second.
The Cardinals, now 0-4-1 overall, travel to compete in the Wittenberg Tournament this weekend. Fisher takes on Wittenberg at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night before facing Mount Union at 2 p.m. on Sunday.
