Baseball Takes Two At Utica

Sean Osterman went 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBI in Saturday's 16-5 win at Utica.

The St. John Fisher College baseball team pounded out 29 hits on the day and picked up two wins over host Utica College on Saturday.   Fisher(24-11 overall, 9-3 Empire 8) won the first game 8-1, behind a complete-game victory from senior pitcher Dan Jurik.     In the second game of the twin-bill, Fisher's Kevin Wing, Ben Bostick and Sean Osterman each picked up three hits, as the Cardinals scoring 15 runs in the first four innings and cruised to a 16-5 win.

 

Game One – Fisher 8, Utica 1:

 

Jurik fanned eight and allowed just five hits to earn his fifth win of the year. Bostick went 3-for-3 with two RBI, while Marc Montesano totaled two hits and two RBI. Leo Fusilli, Jon Gibbs, Ross Langevin and Wing each singled, scored a run and drove in a run. Phil Pettinella and Jason Nevada both scored a run and singled.

 
 

Game Two – Fisher 16, Utica 5:

 
 

The Cardinals totaled 18 hits, including four triples, in the night cap. Bostick finished with three hits in the game, including two doubles and triple. Wing picked up three hits and scored three runs, while Osterman went 3-for-4 with three runs and three RBI. Gibbs doubled twice and finished with three RBI, while Teagen Barresi added two hits.   Ross Langevin went 2-for-3 with three runs scored, while Matt Klock tripled and finished with three RBI. Andrew Van Slyke scattered five hits over five innings to earn the victory, raising his record to 5-1 on the year.
