Women's Soccer Falls to Rochester in Overtime

The Cardinals never trailed the Yellowjackets, but couldn't capitalize in overtime as the Yellowjackets scored the game winner in the 99th minute of play to send Fisher home with a 3-2 loss.

Laura Burgstrom put Fisher on the board on a 35-yard free kick 10:52 into play, scoring her second tally of the season.

The Cardinals held the lead for the next 25 minutes, until Rochester's Ellen Coleman ripped her 12th goal of the season past goalkeeper Jessica Plukas

Freshman Alexa Capozzi tallied her seventh goal of the season to put the Cardinals back on top in the 67th minute, but Rochester would answer just 11 minutes later, forcing the overtime period, when Coleman secured the win with her 13th goal of the season in the 99th minute.

Plukas stopped six shots between the pipes.

The Cardinals, now 5-10-2, close out their regular season play against Utica next Saturday at 1 p.m.  A win over Utica, coupled with an RIT loss/tie to Elmira and a Hartwick loss to Stevens would give Fisher the Empire 8 postseason bid.
