The St. John Fisher College women's tennis team dropped a heartbreaking conference match to RIT today at the RIT courts.
The Cardinals fell 5-4 to the Tigers, snapping their three-game win streak.
Fisher took two of the three doubles matches, picking up wins at second and third. Katie Barlow and Marissa Rotondo took an 8-2 win at second, while Katelyn Smith and Jordan Brungard earned an 8-3 victory at third. Laura Hale and Elena Vahl dropped their first match as a duo, falling 8-4.
Four of the six singles matches went into three sets. Vahl took home a win at second (6-0, 2-6, 6-3), while Smith fought till the end to take the win at fifth (7-6, 3-6, 7-5). Unfortunately, the Cardinals fell short by one.
Fisher is back in action when it hosts William Smith College on Saturday. The match begins at 1 p.m.
