Junior pitcher
Mike Craig worked all nine innings and surrendered just one run while striking out five batters on Wednesday as the St. John Fisher College baseball team cruised to a
10-1 win over host College at Brockport in a non-conference game.
Craig allowed just six hits, and did not walk a batter over nine innings on the way to his first win of the season (1-1). The Golden Eagles tied the game at one to end the first, but Fisher, led by freshman
Steve Karnyski, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI and three runs scored, tallied four runs in the fifth frame to take a 5-1 lead.
Karnyski lined a single through the left side following
Kevin Wing's leadoff double in the sixth, with
Leo Fusilli coming through with a double to empty the bases and bring in two runs one batter later.
Phil Pettinella blasted his fifth homerun of the year with two outs in the seventh, before Karnyski put the proverbial nail in the coffin with a lead off homer in the eighth.
Fisher (16-12) will host RIT on Saturday (1 p.m.) and Sunday (12 p.m.) in back-to-back Empire 8 doubleheaders this weekend.
