The St. John Fisher College men's soccer team battled to
a 2-1 victory over the Blue Knights on a rainy afternoon in Geneseo. The game was forced into overtime, but was decided almost immediately on a penalty kick by
Luke Lennox in the 90th minute of play.
Geneseo started off the scoring between the teams, getting on the board when Kurt Jameson collected a rebound six yards out and put it between the pipes.
Fisher remained scoreless until the start of the second half, when Lennox sent in a free kick that was headed in by
Andrew McIntosh for his first goal of the season.
The teams remained knotted for the rest of regulation play, but within the first 12 seconds of play in overtime, a Blue Knights' foul awarded Lennox a penalty kick that he was able to fire in to end the game.
Senior goalkeeper
Adam Durst earned the win in goal, recording two saves. The Cardinals forced Geneseo's Sam Murphy to make six saves.
Fisher returns to action when it hosts Alfred University in a crucial conference match on senior night at Growney Stadium Saturday. The contest begins at 7 p.m.
