The St. John Fisher College women's tennis team suffered a 5-4 loss to host Alfred University on Tuesday night in an Empire 8 Conference contest.
The Cardinals and Saxons split the six singles matches, but the Saxons earned two wins in the three doubles matches to secure the win.
Junior
Laura Hale teamed with
Katie Barlow for Fisher's lone point on the doubles side, and 8-5 decision, and earned another point for Fisher at first singles with a 6-0, 6-2 victory.
Barlow won her match in straight sets at second singles, 6-4, 6-1, while sophomore
Katelyn Smith won 7-6 (7-5), 6-7(5-7), 10-6 at sixth singles.
Fisher (2-4 overall, 1-3 Empire 8) will return to action tomorrow against local-and-Conference rival Nazareth College.
