Ella Eckert (East Amherst/Clarence) has been selected as the College's Female Athlete of the Week for the week that ended on January 26, 2020.Â
Eckert led the women's basketball team to two wins over conference opponents this weekend as it dispatched Elmira on Friday by a score of 94-49 and then held off Hartwick on Saturday, 62-54, to remain undefeated in Empire 8 play.Â
The sophomore led all players with 22 points and seven rebounds in the victory over the Soaring Eagles while shooting nine-of-12 from the floor in just 20 minutes of action as Fisher set a new season-high for points scored in a game. The forward followed it up with her fifth double-double of the season as Eckert scored 16 points and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.Â
Currently, the East Amherst native is in the top 10 in the league for scoring, rebounding, shooting percentage and assists per game. Women's Basketball looks for its seventh-straight win on Tuesday as it heads to Nazareth for the season's first meeting of the Battle of the Beaks. Tip off set for 7:30 p.m.
