Mark VanMarter (Liverpool, Liverpool, N.Y.) of the St. John Fisher College men’s track and field team has been named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for his performances during the week that wrapped up on January 22, 2017.

VanMarter had a pair of strong finishes in the jumping pits on Saturday as the Cardinals secured 60 points to finish fourth in the team standings at the 2017 Carnegie Mellon Division III Invitational at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio.

The junior won the high jump after leaping 2.01 meters, which was just .02 meters away from setting a new program record in the event.  VanMarter would go on to take third place in the triple jump after notching a distance of 12.79 meters.

VanMarter and the men’s track and field team will return to competition Friday at the Terrier Classic in Boston, Mass. And Saturday at the Brockport Golden Eagle Invitational.
