St. John Fisher University Athletics

St. John Fisher College’s Sarah Kubik of the softball team has been selected as the College’s Female Athlete of Week for the week ending May 15^h, 2016.

Fisher claimed the NCAA Division III Rochester Regional title this past weekend, and will host the Super Regionals on May 20^th and 21^st. The Cardinals will face the Valiants of Manhattanville College (41-3) in a best-of-three series where the winner will advance to the NCAA Division III Softball College World Series.

Kubik came up clutch this weekend starting in Fisher’s first matchup against Penn State-Behrend. The freshman pinch hit for a two-run home run in the 3-0 win, helping advance the team to the Regional finals the following day.

On Saturday, Fisher faced off against the University of Rochester in a two-game final round, where the Cardinals took the first game on a walk-off hit in the 10^th inning. Game two stretched into eight innings until Kubik came up to bat with runners on first and third. She hit a walk-off single to score Katie Mazierski giving Fisher the 3-2 win over Rochester to take the title.
