St. John Fisher College’s Brandon Fuentes of the football team has been selected as the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 1st, 2015.
With its 34-0 victory over Ithaca College this past weekend, Fisher football improves to 5-3 on the season, and 4-2 in the Empire 8 Conference. The Cardinals four-game win streak has boosted the team into third place overall in the Empire 8 as Fisher heads into its final two games of the 2015 season.
Fuentes had a strong defensive presence against Ithaca, posting two interceptions for a gain of 57 yards, and one touchdown. On Ithaca's very first offensive play, he intercepted a pass and returned it 44 yards for a touchdown to put the Cardinals up 7-0 with 12:29 left in the first quarter. The second came in the 3rd quarter, and was good for a gain of 13 yards. The senior also tallied two tackles, one of which was solo.
Fisher returns to action at 1 p.m. on Saturday when it travels to Oneonta to take on the Hartwick College Hawks for an Empire 8 Conference matchup.
