St. John Fisher College’s Charles Collins (Cuba-Rushford/Cuba) of the men’s cross country team has been selected as the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending September 20th, 2015.
Collins, also named the Empire 8 Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week, led Fisher to a first-place finish in the Highlander Invitational which was hosted by Houghton College on Saturday, September 19th. The freshman finished first in the 8K run with a time of 26:25 while averaging a 5:19 mile in the race.
Earlier in the year, Collins ran an average mile of 5:22 in the Saratoga Invitational (9/12) and 5:27 in the Flower City Opener (9/5), making Saturday his best performance of the season.
The Cardinals will return to competition on October 3rd when they head to Letchworth State Park to take part in the Mike Woods Invitational hosted by SUNY Geneseo.
