St. John Fisher College’s Samantha Barton (Greece Arcadia/Rochester) of the women’s lacrosse team has been named as the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 19.
The senior recorded seven goals, four ground balls and three caused turnovers as Fisher went 2-0. With the wins, the Cardinals improved to 10-4 overall and 5-1 in conference play.
In a 14-13 win on Thursday over the College at Brockport, the No. 3 team in the region, Barton tallied three goals and three draw controls. She also went a perfect 2-for-2 on free position shots.
In Fisher’s win over Utica College on Sunday, Barton scored three of her team-high four goals in the first half and added three ground balls. The 16-5 victory secured Fisher a spot in the Empire 8 Women’s Lacrosse Championship.
Fisher takes on Houghton College at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the Cardinals’ final home, regular season contest.
