St. John Fisher College’s Sarah Sorrentino (Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons/Schenectady) of the women’s tennis team has been named as the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending September 21, 2014.

The freshman won her singles and doubles matches to help Fisher earn its first victory of the season on Saturday against visiting Utica College. It was also Sorrentino’s first pair of wins this year.

Sorrentino blanked her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at third singles then teamed up with Taylor Duquette to take an 8-4 win at second doubles.

The Cardinals improve to 1-4 on the year and 1-3 in Empire 8 Conference play.

Fisher takes on SUNY Oswego at 4 p.m. Friday for nonconference action
