St. John Fisher College’s Brett Farrell (Webster Schroeder/Webster) of the men’s lacrosse team has been named as the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 21, 2013.
In a 2-0 week for the Cardinals, Farrell had a combined eight points on a balanced attack, scoring four times while assisting on another four goals.
The week started on Wednesday for Fisher, as it hosted SUNY Oswego for a nonconference matchup. Farrell tied for the team lead in points, finishing with five on four goals and an assist in the 9-6 win. Jeff Wester also had a five-point day, his coming in the opposite fashion, scoring only once but assisting on four of his teammates’ goals. Farrell’s four goals were not only a game-high but a career-high for the junior as well.
On Saturday, the Cardinals were back at it again, cruising past Alfred University 15-4 in an Empire 8 contest. Farrell went scoreless this time, but was still a great teammate, distributing for goals on three separate occasions. The Webster native tied for the second most points on the day, as Fisher only allowed one goal in each of the four quarters.
Farrell and the Cardinals will return to action at 7 p.m. on Wednesday when they host East Ave rival and current Empire 8 first place team, Nazareth College.
