St. John Fisher College’s Joseph Radulski (Johnson City/Johnson City) of the men’s golf team has been named as the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending May 19, 2013.
In a week where the Cardinals tied for ninth place at the NCAA Division III Championship held in Destin, FL., Radulski gave Fisher its best and most consistent tournament scores.
On day one at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort’s The Links, Radulski tied for the Cardinals low score of the round, shooting a 74 (+2) along with freshman teammate Corey Haas. Radulski followed that with a 72 (+1) on The Raven, the harder of the two courses, to lead Fisher for the second-straight day. The senior’s two rounds were crucial in allowing the Cardinals to make the cut, as only 15 teams advanced to play on the final two days.
Radulski, playing The Raven in the third and fourth rounds, shot a 75 (+4) on day three and a 72 (+1) on the final day. His 293 (+8) for the four rounds were good for a tie in 12th place on the player’s leaderboard, earning Radulski a guaranteed spot on either the second or third All-American teams.
For the second-straight season the Cardinals finished in the top 10 of the NCAA Championship, as they finished in a tie for seventh place in 2012. Fisher’s best finish came in 2008, as the Cardinals finished in third place after leading for the first three rounds. That year, Scott Harris Jr. placed first on the player’s leaderboard, winning the College’s only national championship.
Radulski ends his career on a high note, as he paced the Cardinals in the NCAAs and also was named to the Mid-Atlantic All-Region team this past week. This honor comes on the heels of the senior earning First Team All-Empire 8 accolades last month, helping Fisher capture its eighth Empire 8 Conference title in the past nine years.
