St. John Fisher College’s Sydney Saccone (Clarence Center/Clarence) of the women’s track and field team has been named as the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 9, 2014.

At the Valentine Invitational in Boston, Mass., against some of the top Division I teams in the nations, Saccone set three new Fisher records.

In the 500-meter dash, she shattered her own record with a time of 1:22.04. She was also part of the 4x400 relay team, along with teammates Chelsea Cleveland, Kaitlin Rizzo, and Morgan Mastin, which won their heat and set a new school record with a time of 4:10.03.  Saccone later teamed up in the distance medley relay for yet another school-best of 12:40.73 which lowered the group's ECAC qualifying mark by 13 seconds.

Saccone and the rest of the Fisher track and field teams will return to action at Ithaca College next weekend for the Bomber Invite.
