St. John Fisher College’s Taylor Youngkrans (Oneida/Oneida) of the women’s track and field team has been named as the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 24, 2013.

On Saturday, Youngkrans earned her spot in the ECAC Championship when she finished sixth in the women’s weight throw with a distance of 14.06 meters.  The junior beat the necessary mark by just .01 meters, and will now advance to the ECAC competition this coming weekend.

The finish also bested her personal record, which was originally set at the Brockport Invitational earlier this month.  The Oneida native hurled 13.37 meters in that event, but posted a drastic improvement this weekend to knock-off the former mark.

Youngkrans, and 17 other teammates that hit ECAC marks, will head to the Armory Track and Field Complex in New York City on Friday to compete in the ECAC Championship.
