St. John Fisher College’s Daniel Parshall (East Rochester/East Rochester), a junior on the men’s tennis team, has been named the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending April 8, 2012.
In a 3-0 week for the Cardinals, Parshall went 2-1 at fourth singles and 3-0 at second doubles with partner John Whelehan.
On Tuesday, Parshall lost his only singles match of the week in a narrow 6-3, 6-4 margin but bounced back with an 8-6 doubles victory to help the Cardinals move past Elmira College 6-3.
Friday pitted Fisher against Hartwick College and Parshall earned the match-deciding win at fourth singles (7-5, 4-6, 6-1), earning the Cardinals a 5-4 victory. Parshall and Whelehan also paired for an 8-5 conquering at second doubles.
Parshall helped capture Fisher’s perfect week with a shutout (6-0, 6-0) win in singles play and an 8-2 victory at second doubles on Saturday against Utica College. The Cardinals also collected the shutout, defeating the Pioneers 9-0.
Fisher returns to action at 4 p.m. on Wednesday when it host East Ave rival Nazareth College at the Mendon Racquet and Pool Club.
