St. John Fisher College’s Jason Norsen (Frontier/Hamburg) of the men’s basketball team has been named as the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending December 4, 2011.
Norsen helped lead the Cardinals to a 2-1 week and a fifth place finish in the 46th Annual Wendy’s College Classic. The junior center started the week off by contributing 15 points and six rebounds in a 83-58 opening round loss to Hobart College on Wednesday in the Wendy’s College Classic.
Norsen helped the Cardinals rebound in a consolation game of the tournament against Roberts Wesleyan College when he converted on a traditional three-point play with 19 seconds left to put Fisher ahead 59-57. That score would hold up, resulting in a Fisher victory. Norsen’s 23 points and three blocks led the team in each respective category in the win. From there, Fisher went on to win the fifth place game, 77-54, over SUNY Geneseo behind Norsen’s 16 points and 10 rebounds.
The Cardinals are now 4-3 on the season and will return to action at 3 p.m. on Saturday when they travel to Worcester, MA to take on Worcester State University.
