St. John Fisher College’s Avery Light (Broadalbin-Perth/Broadalbin) of the women’s basketball team has been named the College’s Female Athlete of the Week for the week ending November 20, 2011.

Light made big contributions off of the bench in both of Fisher’s games last week. On the week, the sophomore shot 6-for-9 (66.7%) from the floor and 3-for-4 (75.0%) from behind the 3-point line for a total of 15 points. Her five points in the Cardinals’ 69-40 home loss to Medaille College on Tuesday were tied for the most by a Fisher player off of the bench, while her 10 points in a 68-50 defeat at Marywood University were tied for most on the team.

Light also contributed at least one block, one assist and one rebound in each of the Cardinals’ games this week, including coming down with four rebounds against Marywood.

Fisher (0-2 overall) will return to action at 4 p.m. on Friday when it hosts the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford in the Woodcliff Hotel and Spa Invitational
