St. John Fisher College has named #Kevin Wing# of the baseball team as the College’s Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending February 28, 2009.

Fisher opened its 2010 campaign in Vero Beach, FL against Thiel College (PA) on Saturday and Wing made sure his ability and leadership was visible in a 20-7 win. In seven plate appearances the senior went 5-for-5 with five runs scored, two walks, a stolen base and a RBI.

The Cardinals also played a doubleheader against Alvernia College (PA) on Sunday and lost both contests. In these three games, Wing went 7-for-13 with five runs scored and two stolen bases. Defensively the shortstop played a perfect three games, being involved in fifteen errorless plays.

Fisher will continue its stay in Vero Beach over the next week, playing in five more games before returning to New York to challenge for the Empire 8 Conference and a bid to the NCAA tournament.
