Biography

2026: Played and started in all 21 games, producing the most dominant season by a defender in Empire 8 Conference history… bested her program and conference single-season records for caused turnovers with 64… also led Fisher and the E8 with 67 ground balls, the sixth most by a Cardinal in a season… her 85 draw controls led Fisher and were the second most in the conference… chipped in three goals on the offensive end… caused multiple turnovers in all but four games and had four or more in nine contests… caused six turnovers, picked up five ground balls and controlled five draws in a win over Hartwick on April 25… caused six turnovers, scooped up six ground balls and controlled four draws in Fisher’s victory over SUNY Geneseo in the Empire 8 Championship game on May 2… controlled seven draws in a win over Skidmore on March 27 and in a win over Keuka on April 22… named Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Year for the third consecutive season… named MVP of the Empire 8 Tournament after causing 10 turnovers, recovering 10 ground balls and controlling eight draws over two games… earned first-team All-America honors from USA Lacrosse Magazine and second-team All-America honors from the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA)…  joined Melissa Leonhard and former teammate Sydney Carpenter as the program's third multi-time IWLCA All-American… garnered first-team All-Empire 8 honors and first-team IWLCA All-Empire Region honors… chosen as St. John Fisher’s Senior Female Athlete of the Year… surpassed St. John Fisher Athletics Hall of Fame inductee Laurie Quackenbush for both the program and Empire 8 Conference career records for caused turnovers (167)... also ended her career third in St. John Fisher history in ground balls (231) and draw controls (273)... graduated as the only player in program history to eclipse 120 caused turnovers, 200 ground balls and 200 draw controls.

2025:
Appeared in all 20 games and started in 19…  led the Cardinals in ground balls (53)... set the Fisher single-season record for caused turnovers (44)... won a career-high 75 draw controls, the second-most on the team… recorded season-high seven caused turnovers in win over Nazareth on April 19… amassed a career-high 10 draw controls, picked up five ground balls and caused four turnovers in Fisher's 21-5 victory over John Carroll in the second round of the NCAA DIII Tournament on May 11, a performance that earned her national Defensive Player of the Week honors from the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA)... named Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Year for the second year in a row… earned first-team All-E8 honors… earned first-team All-Region honors from the IWLCA... named a second-team All-American by the IWLCA and the USA Lacrosse Magazine… moved up to third on Fisher’s all-time caused turnovers list, reaching 103 for her career... named to the IWLCA Division III Honor Roll.  

2024: Appeared in 20 games, starting all 20... collected 60 ground balls, caused 38 turnovers and secured 77 draw controls... was named Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Year... earned first-team All-E8 honors and first-team All-Region honors from the Intercollegaite Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association. 

2023: Played in 20 games, starting all 20... registered 51 ground balls, caused 21 turnovers, and recorded 36 draw controls... named Empire 8 Rookie of the Year and earned first-team All-E8 honors... earned first-team All-Region honors from the Intercollegaite Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association.

High School: Participated in four years of soccer and one year of track.... played sevens years of club lacrosse, two years of JV and two years of varsity lacrosse... earned the leadership award in lacrosse... American Select Nike Player that Impressed in 2021... Eagle Award in 2022... All Conference A Conference team of 2021 for IAAM, 2019 Soccer State Cup Champions. 

Personal: Maddie is the daughter of Jack and Jennifer Lowney... she is majoring in Legal Studies and Sustainability... her favorite athletic memory is when she played her first game back after an ACL tear... she started playing lacrosse when her father signed her up at the age of five... her favorite pro sports team is the Baltimore Orioles... her superstition is wearing the same type of hairstyle each game.
