CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher women's golf team concluded the 2025-26 season with a second-place finish in the Northeast Women's Golf Conference Championship, played on Sunday and Monday at the Van Patten Golf Club.
The Cardinals ended the two-round tournament 129-over-par 705, 27 strokes behind first-place SUNY Cortland, which earned the NWGC's automatic bid to the 2026 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championship.
Fisher held first place after the first round with a score of 344 (+57), one stroke ahead of Cortland. The Red Dragons surged ahead in the second round, shooting 45-over 333. The Cardinals finished +73.
The first round didn't conclude until Monday due to a weather stoppage after the first nine holes on Sunday.
Top Performers
The Cardinals had two players place in the top 10 – freshmen Emma Sweazy and Bella O'Rourke.
Sweazy finished tied for second place with Nazareth's Bethany Wineburg, shooting 19-over-par 163, three strokes behind champion Giana Milazzo (+16, 160 strokes). Sweazy turned in an 82 in the first round and an 81 in the second.
Sweazy and Milazzo were tied for the lead after the first round. Milazzo shot a 78 in the second round to secure the championship.
O'Rourke shot an 85 in the first round and a 94 in the second to finish 35-over-par 179. She recorded a birdie on the par-three 15th hole in the first round.
Senior Paige Landers finished in a tie for 13th, while junior Paige Lasher took 15th place.
