PITTSFORD, N.Y. — Three St. John Fisher University student-athletes have earned weekly honors from the Empire 8 Conference.
Emily McManus (Junior, Softball) — Empire 8 Player of the Week
McManus picked up right where she left off last spring as the Cardinals opened the season with seven wins in 10 games in Florida. The junior slugger slashed .517/1.027/.632 with 15 total hits, including six homers and two doubles, and nine walks. She drove in 18 runs, including three in wins over Emmanuel (Mass.), Marian (Wis.), Lebanon Valley and Susquehanna.
McManus, the reigning Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Year, needs just four more home runs to surpass Sarah Kubik (37 home runs from 2016-19) for the program record.
Ellie Leisen (Junior, Women's Lacrosse) — Empire 8 Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Leisen had 10 points on four goals and six assists as St. John Fisher (2-2) split a pair of games in Colorado last week, beating Kenyon 11-10 on Tuesday before falling to No. 24 Colorado College 11-10 in overtime on Saturday. Leisen scored two goals and matched her career high with three assists in each game.
Scott Bovard (Junior, Men's Lacrosse) — Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Week (x2)
Already a two-time E8 Offensive Player of the week honoree this season, Bovard scored six goals and had five assists for 11 points over the Cardinals' victories against Hamilton College and Rhodes College last week. He amassed nine points – tied for the third-most by a Fisher player in a game – on five goals and four assists in a 24-8 drubbing of Rhodes on Friday night. Fisher improved to 5-0 for the first time since 2022 with the victory.
