PITTSFORD, N.Y. – St. John Fisher men's lacrosse freshman face-off specialist Jonah Vormwald has been named Empire 8 Defensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. 

Vormwald owned the face-off X as No. 11 St. John Fisher opened a challenging non-conference stretch with a 15–10 win over Washington College on Saturday. The Cardinals finished 23-of-28 on face-offs, with Vormwald going 16-of-19 and scooping up a season-high 15 ground balls.

The Cardinals host No. 13 RIT at 7 p.m. on Wednesday and No. 20 SUNY Cortland at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
