Women's Ice Hockey Falls to Utica 5-1

UTICA, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher women's ice hockey team fell to Utica University 5-1 in a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) road contest on Friday night. With the result, the Cardinals dropped to 9-10-1 (4-4-1 UCHC) while the Pioneers improved to 5-14-2 (4-5-0 UCHC).

How it Happened

The Pioneers opened the scoring just over two minutes into the first period when Camryn Behonick found the back of the net. Utica doubled its advantage with less than five minutes remaining in the opening frame as Brooklyn Higgins scored to make it 2-0.

Utica continued to apply pressure early in the second period, extending its lead one minute in when Dylan DiGrazia fired home a goal. The Pioneers added another nine minutes later as Veronica Houk netted a goal to give Utica a four-goal cushion.

Samantha Dobrzynski increased the lead to 5-0 just 42 seconds into the third period. The Cardinals broke through midway through the final frame when Ellie Prantner and Eibhleann Knox set up Cameran Evans for a short-handed goal.

St. John Fisher freshman goaltender Brynn Bacak made 26 saves in her 40 minutes of action.
