PITTSFORD, N.Y. – St. John Fisher junior safety Timothy Vanderbrink has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week, the publication announced on Tuesday morning. He's the first Fisher player to earn national weekly honors since cornerback Deorion Moore, now on the Cardinals' coaching staff, did so in October 2022.
Vanderbink led the Cardinals with a career-high 12 tackles, including nine solo stops and 0.5 for a loss of yards, in a 28-23 home win over St. Lawrence on Saturday. Fisher improved to 2-0 for the first time since 2021 with the victory.
Named Empire 8 Co-Defensive Player of the Week last week, Vanderbrink stands fourth in the conference with 19 total tackles through two contests. In a season-opening win over FDU-Florham, he logged seven tackles, broke up a pass and forced two fumbles, recovering one and returning it 32 yards for a touchdown to put Fisher ahead 21-0.
The Cardinals head across town this Saturday for a 1 p.m. kickoff against the University of Rochester.
