PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher women's soccer team opens the 2025 season in Washington, D.C., with a matchup against Catholic University on Saturday, August 30.

2024 In Review: The Cardinals went 11-6-1 overall (8-2-1 E8 regular season) and fell to No. 2-seeded Geneseo in the E8 semifinals after beating No. 6 Alfred 1-0 in overtime in the quarterfinals. The Cardinals had the longest winning streak in program history (6 wins) since at least 2000 during the regular season, a run that included a 2-0 run win over eventual NCAA Tournament qualifier SUNY Brockport, which hadn't lost a regular-season game since Sept. 27, 2023. The Cardinals had two United Soccer Coaches All-Region honorees and nine All-Empire 8 selections, including four first teamers (tied for the most in the conference).
Players To Watch
Madelyn Wania (Sr., F) – Wania, a transfer from St. Rose, had a fantastic first season with the Cardinals in 2024. She scored six goals and tallied nine assists for 21 total points, tied for the fifth most in the conference, on her way to first-team All-E8 and third-team USC All-Region honors.
Ryann Dauksza (Sr., D) – Dauksza had seven points on three goals and an assist while playing a crucial role for Fisher's defense last season. She earned All-E8 honors for the third straight season, garnering a first-team spot for the first time in her collegiate career.
Jackie Gervais (Sr., D) — Gervais played in 19 games and started in 16 of them in 2024, earning All-Empire 8 honors as a defender for a second straight year. She has five career points on a goal and three assists.
Carli Maltbie (Jr., M) – Maltbie played and started in 16 of Fisher's games last season as a sophomore, scoring her first two collegiate goals. She earned third-team All-E8 honors.
Emily Woolingham (So. F) – Woolingham had a strong debut season for the Cardinals in 2024, as she scored five goals and recorded an assist for 11 points, tied for the third most on the team. She was named to the All-Empire 8 third team.
The Goalkeepers – Senior Avery Byrnes and junior Sofia Pantoja each played in 11 of the Cardinals' games last season.
Pantoja, who made 10 starts, led the Cardinals with 33 saves and posted a 5-4-1 record with one solo shutout. Byrnes, who made nine starts, made 25 stops and posted a 6-2-1 record with four solo shutouts.

4 – Byrnes had four shutouts last season, tied for the fifth most by a Fisher player in a single season.
5 – The Cardinals return five of their nine 2024 All-Empire 8 selections: Wania (first team), Dauksza (first team), Maltbie (third team), Gervais (third team) and Woolingham (third team).
9 – Wania and graduated senior Emma Spelman each had nine assists last season, tied for the fourth most in Fisher's single-season record book.
11 – The Cardinals won 11 games last season, tied for the fourth most by a team in program history.
