Penna, Kaplan Set School Records In St. John Fisher Cardinal Classic

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – Sophomore Hayden Penna and junior Brandon Kaplan set St. John Fisher men's track and field outdoor records in their events in the St. John Fisher Cardinal Classic on Saturday. 

Penna placed first in the pole vault with a mark of 4.75 meters, breaking his previous outdoor record of 4.63m, which he set at last year's Cardinal Classic. 

Kaplan, for the third time this outdoor season, set the school record in the hammer throw. He placed first in the event with a mark of 57.23 meters. 

Additional Meet Highlights 

  • Corinthian Reed placed second and set a personal record in the 400-meter run (49.08). 

  • Manuel Sepulveda placed first and set an outdoor personal record in the triple jump (14.27 meters). 

  • Ethan Fox placed sixth and set a personal record in the men's 200-meter run (2:23:36). 

  • Daniel Davis placed fourth in the discus throw (43.20m).

  • Oren Welch placed first in the 110-meter hurdles event with a time of 15.60 seconds, a personal best. 

  • Nathaniel Kulp set a personal record in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:10:10. 

Up Next

The Cardinals will compete in the Empire 8 Outdoor Track and Field Championships next weekend at SUNY Brockport.
