UTICA, N.Y. – The No. 10/16 St. John Fisher women's lacrosse team cruised to an 18-3 victory over Utica University on Wednesday evening at Gaetano Stadium to remain unbeaten.
Off to the best start to a season in program history, the Cardinals improved to 9-0 overall and 2-0 in the Empire 8 with the victory. The Pioneers dipped to 3-5 overall (0-2 E8).
The Cardinals have won 14 straight regular-season games dating back to last season and 56 straight games (regular season and postseason) against Empire 8 teams since 2018. Wednesday's victory marked Fisher's 16th in a row over Utica.
How It Happened

The Cardinals wasted no time taking control, as senior Mary Fiorentino scored two minutes in to commence a string of 12 consecutive Fisher goals. Seniors Hanna Kumpf (2), Farrah Zalla and Emma Biel and junior Kaley Griffin also scored during the Cardinals' six-goal first quarter.

Senior Sydney Carpenter, who recorded three assists in the first quarter, scored both of her goals in the second. Biel and Zalla each scored again in that quarter as Fisher extended its lead to 10-0.

Kumpf and Fiorentino both reached three goals for the game in the third quarter, during which the Cardinals pushed their lead to 14-1. Biel scored her third goal of the contest in the fourth quarter.

Carpenter, a two-time All-American, tied her season-high with five assists in the contest, bringing her career total to 115. She needs eight more to set the program record.
