Women's Hockey Suffers 4-0 Setback To Trinity College

FAIRPORT, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher women's hockey team (3-6-1, 0-3-1 United Collegiate Hockey Conference) suffered a 4-0 setback to Trinity College (2-5-0, 0-4-0 NESCAC) on Saturday afternoon at the Rochester Ice Center.

How It Happened

Trinity used two quick strikes in the opening period to take control. Sophie Rousell buried a feed from Livia Angioletti at the 5:34 mark, and just 11 seconds later, Gabriela Gross raced to take possession of a loose puck and ripped a wide-open shot past Fisher goalkeeper Brynn Bacak to make it 2-0.

After a scoreless second period, the Bantams tacked on two goals in the third period to run away from the Cardinals. Nina McKenna finished a feed from Nani Keyes to make it 3-0 a few minutes before Meena Al-Kadiri added the final tally, an unassisted goal with about two minutes left in the game.

Bacak finished with 35 saves, while Trinity goaltender Madeline Carter made 15 stops. Trinity finished with a 70-35 overall edge in shots, including 39-15 in shots on goal.

The Cardinals return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 6, with a road matchup against Buffalo State University.
