ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University women's ice hockey team fell short against No. 5 Nazareth University on Friday, taking a 3-2 road loss at the Tim Hortons Iceplex. The Cardinals slipped to 2-4-1 overall (0-2-1 UCHC), while the Golden Flyers improved to 7-0-0 (3-0-0 UCHC).
How it Happened
Nazareth's Nikki Sharp opened the scoring to give the Golden Flyers a 1-0 lead early in the opening period. Less than two minutes later, the Cardinals pulled even when Elli Pranter and Jailey Wilson set up Cameran Evans for the team's first goal of the game.
With under four minutes remaining in the period, Sophia Pittis put Nazareth back in front with a power-play goal. The Cardinals tied it again late in the first period when Nicole Doeringer scored off a feed from Josie Palumbo and Erin Lantry.Â
After the second period ended, the score remained knotted at 2-2 as both teams tightened up defensively.
Amy Laskowski broke the deadlock midway through the final period and lifted the Golden Flyers to the win.
