PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University women's golf team swept major honors at the 2025 Empire 8 Women's Golf Invitational, highlighted by first-year standout Emma Sweazy capturing the Individual Championship and Rookie of the Meet, while head coach Bob Simms was named Coach of the Meet.
Competing at Teugega Country Club on Oct. 12–13, the Cardinals dominated the field from start to finish, winning the team title by 61 strokes over defending champion Nazareth University. Fisher finished with three golfers inside the top five and placed three student-athletes on the Empire 8 First Team — the most of any program in the conference.
Sweazy delivered a statement performance in her championship debut, carding a two-day total of 163 to win the individual title by six strokes. She led a strong Fisher contingent at the top of the leaderboard, as junior teammates Sarah Burgess and Ava Malvaso tied for second place.
With her victory, Sweazy becomes the first Cardinal since the Invitational's restructuring to earn both Individual Champion and Rookie of the Meet honors in the same season.
Fisher also claimed three of the five First-Team All-Empire 8 selections, as Burgess, Malvaso, and Sweazy were each named to the conference's top team. Burgess and Malvaso earned the distinction for the second straight year.
Head coach Bob Simms earned Coach of the Meet recognition after guiding the Cardinals to one of the most commanding team performances in recent Invitational history. Fisher's depth and consistency propelled the program to the top of the conference once again.
Junior Paige Lasher was named Fisher's representative on the Empire 8 Tomorrow's Leaders Team, an honor recognizing student-athletes who distinguish themselves athletically, academically, and in their community while demonstrating leadership, integrity, and sportsmanship.
