PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University men's track and field team competes at the Atlantic Region Indoor Championships on Friday and Saturday on the campus of Nazareth University.

Last week, the Cardinals finished third in the team competition in the Empire 8's indoor meet.

Voloshen Velocity
Caitlin Voloshen was the star for Fisher at the Empire 8 championships, winning a conference title in the mile run while placing second in the 800 meter. She was also a member of the distance medley team (see below) and the third-place 4x400 relay team.

Medley Medalists
Voloshen, alongside freshmen Grace Dolan, Allison List, and Maggie Bacon, won the distance medley race at the Empire 8 meet, finishing with a time of 12.59.65. They'll be running again at Nazareth for the regionals.

Long Jumpers
Although Fisher failed to take home any long jump titles at the conference tournament, the Cardinal contingent was one of the best during the regular season and is a threat to make noise at the regionals.

Leading the way is junior Veronica Duell, whose jump of 5.68 meters (18'7.75") led the conference in the regular season and was seventh-best in all of Division III. Also heading to regionals is senior Michaela Kurbs, with a jump of 5.62 meters (18'5.25'') that was the 12th best in the nation.

More To Know
Over a dozen Cardinals are heading to Nazareth for the regional meet.

Among the others of note is senior Lauren DeMichele. The Horseheads native placed second in the 5000 meter at the E8 meet, and fourth in the 3000 meter race. She'll take part in the 5000 at regionals.

Another to watch? Makenna King. The senior had the second-best shot put throw in the conference and 21st-best in Division III during the regular season before finishing fourth at the conference meet last week.
