PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University women's basketball team goes for its 16th and 17th straight wins this weekend when they host Elmira College and Alfred University at Manning & Napier Varsity Gym on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

Friday's Elmira game tips off at 5:30 p.m., while Saturday's Alfred game starts at 2 p.m.

Here's what you need to know:

Last Time Out
The Cardinals won their 15th straight game on Tuesday, traveling to Keuka and beating the Wolves, 83-31. Fisher dominated for most of the game, and four Cardinals scored in double digits, led by junior Sidney Tomasso's 13 points. Junior guard Katie Moravec led defensively with five steals.

Know Your Foe (Part One)
Elmira College enters Friday's game with a 9-8 record, including a 5-4 mark in Empire 8 play. Earlier this season, the Cardinals beat them in Elmira, 92-37, behind a 16-point performance by freshman forward Joleen Lusk

The Cardinals are 67-13 against the Soaring Eagles, and haven't fallen to them since the 2013-14 season. The Eagles are led offensively by Laura Bogota, who averages 12.5 points per game.

Fun Fact: Elmira College is best known for maintaining the site where Mark Twain wrote some of his most famous books.

Know Your Foe (Part Two)
As of this writing, Alfred University is 7-10 in the 2023-2024 season, including a conference record of 3-6. Like Elmira, Alfred has already played the Cardinals once this year, with Fisher emerging victorious on Jan. 5 by the score of 72-56.

All-time, Fisher is 53-2 against the Saxons. They haven't lost to Alfred since the 2008-09 season, when both of the program's defeats occurred. Alfred is led offensively by Leah Harkenrider, who averages 10.9 points per game.

Fun fact: Alfred University is the oldest surviving university in New York State to be co-educational from its founding.

Home Sweet Home
The Cardinals are 6-1 at home this season and 37-3 since the start of the 2020-21 season. Only one of those losses came against a conference opponent: a 60-57 loss to Nazareth in the 2020-21 season.

Player To Watch
Coach Kuberka has had the same starting five for all 20 games so far this season, but there has been plenty of production by the bench as well. Among the most notable has been freshman guard Madeline Ramsgard, who has scored 88 points and pulled down 64 rebounds while making 32 assists, 19 steals, and five blocks.
