PITTSFORD, N.Y. — A new era of St. John Fisher women's basketball begins on Friday as the Cardinals open their first season under head coach Sarah Cartmill against Susquehanna University in the Chatham Tournament in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Chatham Tournament Schedule And Information
The Cardinals face Susquehanna at 5 p.m. on Friday and Chatham at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Chatham's Athletic & Fitness Center. Both games will be streamed live on the PAC Digital Network.
Cartmill was named head coach of the Cardinals in July after spending five seasons as head coach of SUNY Fredonia's women's basketball program.
Her college coaching résumé began to take shape at Ithaca College, where she served one season (2005) as a graduate assistant while earning a master's degree in exercise and sports sciences with a concentration in sports psychology. That was followed by four seasons as an assistant coach at St. Bonaventure University, where she helped the Bonnies reach the Women's National Invitational Tournament in 2009. She moved on to Binghamton University, her alma mater, in 2010, where she spent four seasons as an assistant coach, including two seasons as recruiting coordinator. Her top season there saw Binghamton post a 19-12 record—11-5 in the America East Conference—in the 2010-2011 season. In August 2014, Cartmill became head women's basketball coach and assistant athletic director at Bard College. After leaving Bard, she served for one season (2017-18) as an assistant coach at Hamilton College.
Cartmill played collegiate basketball at Binghamton University. She is a member of the Binghamton University Athletics Hall of Fame.

Top Returners
Senior guard Sidney Tomasso: The reigning Empire 8 Player of the Year led the Cardinals and finished second in the conference in scoring (16.1 points per game) as a junior last season. She shot 41.2% from the field and led the Empire 8 in free-throw percentage (81%). Tomasso made 41 3-point shots (second on the team) and collected 174 rebounds (second on the team).
Senior guard Katie Moravec: Moravec averaged 8.7 points over 29 games (28 starts) last season. She finished second on the team in assists (63) and steals (54). She pulled down 100 rebounds, a career high.
Junior guard Presleigh Brunner: Brunner played in 29 games and made 23 starts as a sophomore last season. She averaged nearly 7.5 points per game, dished out 41 assists, had 37 steals and pulled down 95 rebounds. She shot 42% from the field and 83.9% from the foul line.
