PITTSFORD, NY - The St. John Fisher University football team will host Wilkes University this Saturday as a part of the festivities of Alumni weekend. They game is slated for a 4p.m. kickoff.

Last Time Out: The Cardinals won on the road this past Saturday against Keystone College, 35-20. Fisher dominated the Giants on the ground totaling 247 rushing yards in the game and finally pulled away late in the third quarter to win the game.

Peyton Nolan, the Cardinals main back, was a force to be reckoned with throughout the game, carrying the ball thirty-two times for 189 yards as well as three touchdowns. Nolan would go on to be named Empire 8 Co-Offensive Player of the Week. The rushing attack was extremely formidable over the course of the day averaging over five yards a carry as a team.

On the other side of the ball, experience was the tale of the tape for the Cardinals. Senior captain linebacker, Joe Miscia, led the Cardinals with 9 total tackles including a big tackle for loss. Fifth year safety Alain Telfort also played a great game totaling 6 tackles, including a tackle for loss and a sack, as well as a pass break up on the back end.

Alumni Weekend: The Cardinals welcome back former attendees of the school for the weekend. The Cardinals look to improve their 3-3 record over the last six years during the event.

Scouting Wilkes: Wilkes University has gotten out to a slow start in the 2023 season with a record of 0-3. Wilkes has struggled to get into a rhythm on offense this season averaging only 223 yards of total offense and scoring just over 14 points per game. Defensively, the Colonels have struggled to find success, allowing 367 yards on average to their opponents.

The Cardinals will likely look to continue their dominance at the line of scrimmage on Saturday. With the help of a dominant rushing attack, transfer senior quarterback Aaron Chase should expect good results in the matchup on Saturday against a weaker passing defense.

Defensively, the Cardinals feature an experienced and talented second and third levels that should combine to making passing an issue for Colonels' quarterback Isaiah Rodriguez, a bright spot on Wilkes' roster. The pass defense has been a strong suit of the 2023 St. John Fisher Cardinals so far, allowing less than 150 yards through the air on average through their first three games.

Looking Ahead: The Cardinals take on rival SUNY Brockport following their matchup with Wilkes on Saturday, September 30th for the 18th annual Courage Bowl. The game is slated for a 6pm kickoff in Growney Stadium on St. John Fisher's campus.
