ROCHESTER, NY – The St. John Fisher Women's Track and Field team traveled to Rochester as they competed in the University of Rochester Alumni Invitational. The invitational took place on Saturday and was hosted by the University of Rochester. As a team, Fisher scored 82 points and placed fifth out of 13 teams.
On the Track
Starting the women out strong,
Caitlin Voloshen competed in the 3000m steeplechase for the first time in her career. Voloshen ran 12:12.74 to place first overall and score 10 points. With her performance, Voloshen moves up to second in the Empire 8 (E8).
Next on the track, multiple Cardinals competed in the 1500m.
Sophia Prouty ran 5:16.13 to place 29
th overall and qualify for the E8 Championships.
Later on the track, Fisher had multiple top-eight performances.
Samantha Shea took first place with a time of 12.01 in the 100m, setting a school record. With her performance, Shea moves up to first in the conference, first in the region, and 11
th in the nation. Right behind Shea,
Ciarra Franz took second overall with a time of 12.30, moving up to second in the E8. Taking seventh overall, Grace Wright ran 13.01.
In the 800m,
Olivia Grinnell ran 2:31.79, taking 16
th overall and qualifying for the E8 Championship.
Right after, Fisher had two top-eight performances in the 400m hurdles.
Hayly Fredrickson ran 1:11.20 to take sixth overall. Not far behind,
Lily Rexford ran 1:14.45, placing eighth overall.
Next up, multiple Cardinals placed in the 200m. Shea ran 25.45, placing second overall, and setting yet another record. G. Wright ran 26.42, placing fifth overall.
Zhane Lettsome took sixth overall, running 26.65.
Emma Wright ran 28.47, placing 18
th overall and qualifying for the E8 Championship.
Right after, Fisher competed in the 5000m.
Lauren DeMichele ran 18:39.38, placing fifth overall and moving up to fourth on the E8 leader board.
Brigid McGee ran 19:00.80, placing seventh overall.
Ending the day on the track, the team of
Riley Jameson,
Taylor Hoffman, Maggie Dolloff, and Maddie Bowen competed in the 4x400m relay. The team ran 4:54.51, placing ninth overall.
On the Field
First, on the field, Fisher competed in the discus throw.
Makenna King threw 42.39m, placing second overall.
In the javelin throw,
Ada Sylvester threw 29.14, taking fifth overall.
Competing in the high jump,
Claudia Vogel jumped 1.48m to place third overall.
Ending the day on the field, multiple Cardinals competed in the shot put. King threw 12.02m, taking second overall.
Erin McGuinness threw 11.15m, taking ninth overall.
Next up, Fisher hosts the annual Cardinal Classic Invite at the Polisseni T&F Complex. The two-day meet will take place on Friday, Apr. 28, and Saturday, Apr. 29.
