PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher University wrestling team were at home on Thursday and celebrated senior night with a victory over Jamestown Community College. The 2022-23 campaign begins to wind down, the Cardinals welcomed the Jayhawks to campus and were able to come away with a 33-18 victory.

Fisher began the evening by honoring their two seniors, Jack Lestrange and Luke Lupisella, and their contributions to the young program. The competition began with Carl Santariello battling in the opening 125-pound bout and eventually falling in a 6-5 decision. Derek Bernardino followed in the 133-pound weight class and was pinned at 1:42 and the Cardinals were behind 9-0. The team then jumped in front after JCC forfeited five consecutive bouts. In the 184-pound match, senior LeStrange was able to shut out his opponent and earn a 5-0 decision. Despite dropping the final two matches, Fisher walked away with a 33-18 victory.

The wrestling team will end their season on Sunday, Feb. 19 when they travel to Muhlenberg College. They will compete in the Mideast Futures Tournament.
