ALLENTOWN, PA – The St. John Fisher University wrestling program headed to Muhlenberg College on Sunday to compete in the National Guard Mideast Futures.
Zach Ash highlighted the team's success with a third-place finish in the 141-weight class. He started with an 18-2 technical fall victory in the first round. After moving on to the semi-finals after a forfeit, Ash fell to the eventual second-place finished from Alvernia. In the consolation semi-final, Ash won by 9-8 decision to get to the third place bout, where he pinned his opponent at 2:31.

Trevor Sheehan's (157),
Ryleigh Duryee (165) and Ricky Hess (197) all tallied team points in the competition. Myles earned a 6-4 decision victory in round two of the consolation and Sheehan advanced to the third round of the consolation with a forfeit and bye. Duryee and Hess were able to advance due to injury default's.
Up next for Fisher is the NCAA Mideast Regional Tournament, hosted by Ithaca College. The competition will take place on Feb. 24 and 25, with matches starting at 11 a.m. on both days.
