PITTSFORD, NY – The St. John Fisher University women's basketball team will take on Russell Sage College in Albany on Friday, Feb. 17 for a 5:30 p.m. start. On Saturday, Feb. 18, the Cardinals travel to Oneonta as they take on Hartwick College for a 2:00 p.m. start for the final game of the regular season.
 
Fisher enters the week with a record of 21-2 and 16-0 in the conference, staying atop the Empire 8. The Gators enter the week with a record of 15-8 overall and a conference record of 11-5. The Cardinals have won 17 straight games, with Russell Sage having won their previous game. Hartwick lost their last contest, having a record of 7-15 and a conference record of 5-11.
 
Leading the conference: Entering the week, Fisher has the best offense, averaging 81.6 points per game, with Russell Sage in second with 69.7. Through 23 games, the Cardinals average the most offensive rebounds, collecting 16.0 offensive rebounds per game.
 
Previous matchups: The Gators and Cardinals previously faced off just under a month ago, with Fisher claiming a home victory of 95-70. Fisher has never lost to Russell Sage and will aim to keep that streak going on Friday.
 
A day before that game, the Hawks and Cardinals faced off at home, with Fisher winning 77-46. The Cardinals have won their previous two games against the Hawks and will look to build on that winning streak on Saturday afternoon.
 
Player to watch: This week's player to watch is the Empire 8 Player of the Week, Claire Kruszka. Last week, Kruszka averaged 20.0 pts/g, 5.5 a/g, and a shooting percentage of 59%. Kruszka was dominant for the Cardinals in the win against rivals, Nazareth, scoring 17 points, five assists, and four rebounds.
 
The Cardinals will look to end their regular season undefeated in the Empire 8, as they aim to continue their 17-game winning streak against this week's Empire 8 opponents.
 
Looking ahead: Fisher women's basketball will be the host of the Empire Conference Championship tournament. The semi-finals matches will take place at the Manning and Napier Varsity Gym on Friday, Feb. 24 at 5:30 pm and 7:30 pm, and the finals will be on Saturday, Feb. 25 with a 3 p.m. tipoff.
