LEWISBURG, Pa. - The St. John Fisher College women's track and field team concluded Bucknell University's Bison Outdoor Classic on Saturday, as the Cardinals competed in five different events against several opponents from Division I and II institutions.
Makenna King, who threw the discus on Friday afternoon, participated in the shot put on Saturday. Although the second-year thrower placed 28th overall, her 11.60-meter mark was the sixth-best among Division III student-athletes in the shot put.
Freshman
Ciarra Franz performed excellently in the 100-meter dash and 100-meter hurdles. Franz was 11th in the hurdles with the best Division III time at 14.74 seconds. She placed 20th out of 81 in the 100-meter dash at 12.62 seconds, the third-fastest among the Division III sprinters.
Samantha Shea,
Breanna Lambert,
Emma Wright, and
Gracie Wright all competed in the 400-meter dash and 4x400 relay. As a relay team, they placed fourth and qualified for the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Championships with a time of 4:04.42. The only teams ahead of the Fisher quad were from Division I Bucknell and Lehigh and Division II Kutztown and Millersville.
Gracie Wright and Shea paced the Cardinals with AARTFC times in the 400. In 17th place, Wright set a new personal record at 58.44 seconds, 0.32 seconds faster than her time at Monday's It's Nice Out Invitational in Geneseo, New York. Shea finished the sprint in 59.38 seconds and placed 26th.
