BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher women's track and field team squeezed in a handful of events at the Brockport Spring Invitational on Friday before inclement weather forced SUNY Brockport to cancel the meet.
Four of the five runners in the women's 10,000-meter race were from Fisher, led by sophomores
Brigid McGee and
Laura Witt in first and second, respectively. In her first collegiate 10,000-meter event, McGee posted a time of 41:17.26. Witt earned a new personal record by completing the race in 41:30.73.
Lauren Almy (43:55.37) and
Abigail Perry (44:22.99) rounded out the Cardinals in fourth and fifth place.
The trio of
Alondra Arroyo,
Hayly Fredrickson, and
Emily Frech competed in the pole vault. Arroyo earned fourth place at 3.05 meters, and Fredrickson, who was 10th, set a new PR at 2.60 meters. Frech reached 2.45 meters, a mere one-hundredth of a meter shy of her PR.
Senior
Elizabeth Izydorczak paced Fisher with the longest throw in the women's discus. Her third attempt cleared 28.49 meters, good enough for 16th place.
Lyndsay O'Brien (22.57m) and
Rebecca Dwyer (19.59m) came in 23rd and 28th.
The Fisher track and field program continues a busy weekend with the second half of the 2022 Bison Outdoor Classic, hosted by Division I Bucknell University on Saturday, April 16.
