PITTSFORD, NY – The St. John Fisher University women's basketball team travels to University Heights, OH this weekend to play in the John Carroll Tip-Off Tournament. They will take on
Hiram College on Friday Nov. 11th and Allegheny College on Saturday Nov. 12th.
The Cardinals head into the weekend with a win under their belt. They defeated Buffalo State College 80-49 on Tuesday night to gain their first win of the season. Hiram College and Allegheny College will both enter the weekend 0-1, losing their season openers this past Tuesday. This is the first time that Fisher will see both teams on their schedule in program history.
Scouting Hiram: The Terriers have played one game so far this season against Fredonia on Tuesday November 8th. After 40 minutes of play, they lost by a score of 51-60. Although the team lost, this close game was led by sophomore Brooke Hickman. She finished with 16 points and 16 rebounds on the day. Close behind her was Senior Haley Thompson, she ended with 11 points, nine rebound and three assists for the Terriers.
Scouting Allegheny: The Gators competed against Carnegie Mellon in their season opener this past Tuesday. After a battle, they fell to 0-1 with a final score of 58-83. Emily Lauer, a sophomore for the Gators had a stand out performance, finishing with 18 points, four rebounds and one assist. Sarah Santicola, a first year, led in rebounds on the night, finishing with eight. She also tallied eight points. Allegheny finished the game with a 50% shooting percentage and a 35.9% field goal percentage.
Fisher Players to Watch: Fisher dominated in their season opener on Tuesday night against the Bengals. The Cardinals played cohesively as a unit to contribute to their overall success in their first win.
Katie Moravec led the way for Fisher with 16 points, two rebounds and five assists on the night and shot 5-for-7 from the field.
Claire Kruszka also had a stand out season opening performance. She finished with 14 points three assists and three rebounds.
Sidney Tomasso was close behind with 13 points, four rebounds and one assist. First year Presleigh Brunner put on show in her collegiate debut, leading the team in rebounds with eight. She also tallied six points and one assist.
