ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College women's indoor track & field team wrapped up the 2021 portion of this season's schedule with a strong inter-conference showing at Friday night's Nazareth College Alumni Opener held inside the Golisano Training Center.

Jordan Lehman was the highlight of the Cardinals' effort in the throwers' pit this evening, as she earned first place finishes in both the shot put and the weight throw. In the shot put, the graduate student made gains on each of her attempts, throwing the day's best mark of 11.32 meters on her sixth and final attempt. She was followed up in the event by Makenna King, who placed fourth with a 11.09-meter mark which she tossed on throw number one. Lehman then went on to dominate the weight throw, as she threw a personal best mark of 15.30 meters for her second first place finish of the day, while classmate Elizabeth Izydorczak placed fifth with a mark of 12.64 meters. With the weight throw performance, Lehman qualified for the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Championship, which will be held later this season.

Freshman jumper Veronica Duell improved on last week's debut performance in the long jump as she took a second-place finish at 5.33 meters, which qualified her for the AARTFC Championship. Sophomore Michaela Kurbs followed up her teammate with a third-place performance, making a mark of 5.19 meters on her second attempt at the line.

The track was bursting with positive results for the Fisher effort. After vying for the first spot in the 3,000-meter run, Lauren DeMichele paced the Cardinals with a second place, 11:02.59 finish - just .46 seconds behind race's winner and .34 seconds short of a personal best time in the event. Laura Witt earned third place in the race as she crossed the finish line in 11:11.48, setting a seven-second PR.

In the mile, three Cardinals recorded career best times, as senior Taylor Highers crossed the finish line in 5:41.38 for third place, Chelsea Lamphere took fifth place at a 5:42.45 clock, and Angelea Collins recorded a time of 5:48.41 and sixth place finish in her first-ever appearance in the race.

The Fisher runners also showed up in some less common events, including the 1,000-meter run, the 500-meter run, and the 300-meter dash. Alivia Collins paced the 1,000-meter run with a fourth-place finish in just 3:19.61, while Megan McAllister and Ada Sylvester teamed up for fourth and sixth place finishes in the 500-meter run with times of 1:26.87 and 1:28.78, respectively. The 300-meter dash was owned by freshman Gracie Wright, who finished the race in 42.37 for a third-place finish. Wright then teamed up with her sister, Emma Wright, Hayly Fredrickson, and Paige Lundgren for a chance at the 4x200-meter relay, where the group finished in third place, just two seconds behind the race's winning squad, at 1:53.47.

The Cardinals will now enjoy the semester break before returning to action on January 8th, 2022 when they travel down to Ithaca to compete in Cornell University's Southern Tier Collegiate Invite.
