Football Announces 2020 Schedule as Fisher Celebrates its 50th Season

PITTSFORD, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College football team has announced its schedule for the 2020 season as the Cardinals are set to celebrate a milestone with their 50th season in team history.

It all begins in 113 days at home on Saturday, September 5th when Buffalo State comes to campus for a non-conference tilt inside Growney Stadium.  Last season, Fisher faced the Bengals in their season-opener and came away with an impressive 23-6 win at Coyer Field.

From there, Fisher will make the 400 mile trip east to Bridgewater, Mass. on September 12th to take on the Bears in another non-conference battle after having earned a 35-28 win a season ago courtesy of nearly 400 yards of offense and six takeaways.

The following Saturday, Fisher will take to the road again as it makes its way to the Garden State for a date with The College of New Jersey Lions.  Last year, in the two programs' first-ever meeting, the Cardinals outscored the Lions 24-0 in the second half en route to a 40-16 win and their third straight win to begin the 2019 schedule.

On September 26th, the College will welcome Ithaca College to Growney Stadium in a game that will coincide with Alumni and Family Weekend.  Fisher and Ithaca locked horns in an instant classic last year with quarterback Hunter Walsh throwing for a career-high 480 yards. As a team, Fisher racked up nearly 600 yards of offense and ran 80 plays.

Head coach Paul Vosburgh's troops will begin their conference schedule on the road as Fisher heads across town to defending Empire 8 champion, The College at Brockport, on October 3rd in Courage Bowl XVI. Kickoff for the game is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Fisher will return home on October 10th to host Utica College for the first time since 2017 when the Cardinals earned a 39-36 win over the Pioneers in one of the longest games in Division III history – a five-overtime thriller.

One week later on October 17th, Fisher continues its home stand with Hartwick College before heading back out on the road on October 24th to duel SUNY Cortland at Red Dragon Stadium.

Following a bye week on Halloween, Fisher gets back to work on November 7th with Morrisville State at home before closing out the regular season at Alfred on November 14th.
Season ticket information including availability, pricing and more will be announced at a later date.
