GENESEO, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College men's and women's track and field teams took part in the Beautiful Valley Open meet hosted by SUNY Geneseo on Thursday afternoon.
The big highlight of the day was James Felice doing his thing in the 800-meter dash. The senior clocked in 1:55.99 in the event, good for first in the event and set a brand new school record.
Senior John Woodworth posted a monstrous personal record in the 400-meter dash after he clocked in at 53.52. Jack Behlmaier also set a huge personal record in the 400-meter hurdles after he placed first at the meet with a 55.42 second time, and found himself at 13th overall on the Atlantic qualifying list.
As for field events, Mark VanMarter also grabbed a first place finish in the long jump with a best leap of 7.38 meters on the day.
Sophomore Tayler Dence grabbed first place in the 400-meter hurdles, and she also set a new school record after she crossed the finish line at 1:02.56. The Hannibal native is now 21st overall in the nation and three tenths of a second from qualifying for the national meet.
A second highlight from the women's side was Erica Pawlewicz reaching her season-best in the long jump with a 4.97 meter leap and is inches from the Atlantic Qualifying mark.
