ONEONTA, N.Y. – The St. John Fisher College women's soccer team dropped an overtime bout against Hartwick College, 2-1. Fisher falls to 4-10-1 on the season, while sitting at 1-3-1 in the Empire 8 Conference. Hartwick advances to 10-4 overall, while moving to 5-1 in the conference.

At the half, Hartwick held the 6-3 shot edge over the Cardinals. Emily Murray, Jackie Romano and Kerri Orbach each fired a single shot in the first 45 minutes of play.

Melissa McGowan made three stops in the half, to keep the score knotted at one.

The second half looked the same across the board with no score on the board. McGowan made a crucial save in the final minute of regulation to force the match into overtime.

Hartwick took the lone shot of the first overtime period. McGowan would be credited with the save on the shot.

The Hawks would eventually score in the 103rd minute in the second overtime period. A Hartwick player would send cross sailing in from the right side, where her teammate would be there to put a header into the top right corner of the net.

Fisher would finish the game with five total shots. Murray and Romano would tally two shot attempts in the game.

McGowan would take the loss in net, totaling a season-high 11 saves in over 100 minutes of play.

The Cardinals return to action at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, as the team heads down East Avenue to battle with the Golden Flyers of Nazareth College.
